Tour overview

Enjoy safe travel and great views during the whole trip.

Golden sandstone, fortified cities and open desert country define a route that moves steadily from Jaipur towards western Rajasthan. The Desert Triangle Tour is a 5 nights and 6 days road itinerary connecting Jaipur, Bikaner and Jaisalmer, with the journey culminating among the dunes near Sam. It is planned for travellers who want Rajasthan's desert character to play a central role in their holiday rather than appear as a brief sightseeing stop.

Jaipur provides the royal introduction through Amer Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal. Bikaner follows with the formidable Junagarh Fort and the distinctive streets of a historic desert city. Continuing west brings travellers deeper into the Thar region, where Jaisalmer's golden architecture creates a striking change from the pink façades of Jaipur and Bikaner's red-toned heritage structures.

The final section combines Jaisalmer Fort, historic havelis and Sam Sand Dunes. A desert camp stay can be arranged near Sam according to the accommodation category selected, with camel riding and evening cultural programmes included when specified in the booking. Private road transportation throughout makes this Rajasthan desert tour package suitable for families, couples and groups planning a six-day journey across the state's western landscape.

Tour Itinerary

Day1

Udaipur Arrival, City Palace & Lake Pichola

Arrive in Udaipur and meet your private driver at Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur City railway station, bus stand or another pickup location confirmed before the journey. Proceed towards the selected hotel and complete check-in according to the property's applicable timing. After refreshments and some rest, begin the first sightseeing session in the historic centre of Udaipur. The arrival day remains focused on the city's principal heritage area so travellers do not have to undertake another lengthy road journey immediately after reaching the Lake City.

Start with City Palace Udaipur, the expansive royal complex overlooking Lake Pichola. Walk through its accessible courtyards, gateways, balconies and museum sections while observing architectural additions made during different periods of Mewar's history. The palace's elevated location creates several viewpoints towards the lake and surrounding parts of Udaipur. Sufficient time is kept for the visit because the complex contains numerous interconnected sections. Monument tickets and any applicable photography charges are payable directly.

Later, proceed towards Lake Pichola and spend the evening around its accessible waterfront. A boat ride can be taken when operational, subject to ticket availability, weather, water conditions and local schedules. Travellers who do not wish to take a boat ride can use the time for a relaxed walk or photography around the lake surroundings. After completing the evening programme, return to your hotel. Spend the first overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day2

Udaipur to Chittorgarh Fort & Return

Have breakfast and leave Udaipur for a full-day excursion to Chittorgarh. The road journey takes you away from Udaipur's lakefront setting towards one of the most historically significant fortified landscapes in Rajasthan. On reaching Chittorgarh, proceed towards the hilltop fort complex. Unlike a single palace or enclosed monument, Chittorgarh Fort covers an extensive area containing towers, temples, palaces, reservoirs, gateways and historical ruins. The sightseeing plan therefore allows several hours for the fort rather than treating it as a short excursion stop.

During the fort circuit, visit prominent landmarks such as Vijay Stambh and Kirti Stambh, along with important palace and historical sections accessible on the day. The architecture and ruins spread across the plateau provide an impression of Chittorgarh's scale as a former fortified capital of Mewar. Selected viewpoints also reveal the surrounding plains below the fort. Guests interested in detailed historical interpretation can hire an authorised local guide separately, while comfortable footwear and drinking water are advisable for the visit.

After completing the principal sections of Chittorgarh Fort, take a meal or refreshment break before beginning the return journey to Udaipur. The drive back allows travellers to rest after several hours of walking and sightseeing within the fort complex. Reach Udaipur in the evening and return directly to the hotel. No additional monument programme is added at night, keeping the schedule comfortable after the full-day excursion. Spend your second overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day3

Udaipur Local Heritage, Old City & Leisure

Begin the morning with breakfast and enjoy a comparatively relaxed day in Udaipur after the previous day's Chittorgarh excursion. The programme can cover selected local areas not visited on arrival day while leaving enough time to appreciate the city without rushing between monuments. Depending on the final itinerary, the driver can take you through accessible heritage and lake areas while allowing convenient stops for photography. This slower day also provides useful flexibility for families and travellers who prefer a balanced sightseeing schedule.

Spend part of the afternoon around Udaipur's older streets and traditional shopping areas. The city is known for miniature paintings, textiles, jewellery, handicrafts and decorative products influenced by Rajasthan's artistic traditions. Guests can browse the markets independently and take a lunch break at a restaurant of their choice. Shopping is completely optional, and travellers who prefer not to visit markets can use the time for leisure around an accessible lakefront or return to the hotel for some rest.

The evening remains flexible, giving travellers an opportunity to revisit a preferred lakeside area or spend personal time in the city. Those who could not take a Lake Pichola boat ride on the first day may consider it during this period when services and weather conditions permit. Optional activities remain payable separately unless specifically included in the confirmed quotation. Return to your hotel after the evening outing and spend the third night in Udaipur.

Day4

Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh Fort, Ranakpur & Overnight Stay

After breakfast, check out from the Udaipur hotel and begin the drive into the Aravalli hills towards Kumbhalgarh. The road gradually leaves the urban surroundings behind and enters a more rural landscape of hills, villages and winding stretches. On reaching Kumbhalgarh, proceed towards the imposing fort complex positioned high above the surrounding countryside. Its remote location forms part of the attraction, giving the day's journey a very different atmosphere from the city-based sightseeing completed earlier.

Spend adequate time visiting Kumbhalgarh Fort, walking through the accessible gates, defensive sections, palace areas and viewpoints. The extensive fortifications follow the contours of the hills, while elevated positions provide broad views across the Aravalli landscape. Because the complex includes slopes, stairs and uneven surfaces, comfortable footwear is recommended. Travellers should also allow enough time for the visit rather than attempting to cover the site hurriedly before continuing towards the next destination.

After Kumbhalgarh, drive onwards towards Ranakpur and visit its celebrated Jain temple complex, subject to applicable visitor timings. The marble interiors are distinguished by intricately carved pillars, ceilings and architectural details that contrast strongly with the massive defensive character of Kumbhalgarh. Visitors must follow temple rules regarding dress, footwear and photography. After the temple visit, proceed to the selected hotel in the Ranakpur/Kumbhalgarh region, complete check-in and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay will be in the selected heritage region.

Day5

Ranakpur / Kumbhalgarh to Udaipur & Departure

Wake up amid the quieter Aravalli surroundings and have breakfast at the hotel. The final morning is intentionally kept free from another major monument visit, allowing travellers to enjoy a comfortable start before completing check-out. Depending on the property's location and your departure schedule, some time can be spent around the hotel surroundings before meeting the driver. Luggage will then be loaded into the private vehicle for the return journey towards Udaipur.

Travel through the hill roads and countryside towards Udaipur, taking a practical refreshment stop if required. Guests with a confirmed flight or train should maintain sufficient travel margin because driving times can vary with road conditions and traffic closer to the city. Those continuing their Rajasthan holiday independently can request a drop at a confirmed Udaipur hotel, while travellers departing the same day will proceed towards the relevant transportation point.

At the agreed time, the driver will drop you at Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur City railway station, bus stand or another confirmed Udaipur location. The Lakes & Forts of Mewar 4 nights 5 days tour concludes after linking the lakes and palace architecture of Udaipur with Chittorgarh's historic fortifications, Kumbhalgarh's hilltop stronghold and Ranakpur's detailed marble craftsmanship.

Day6

Jaipur Arrival, City Palace, Jantar Mantar & Hawa Mahal

Arrive in Jaipur and meet your assigned private driver at Jaipur Airport, railway station, bus stand or another pickup location confirmed before the journey. Proceed to the selected hotel and complete check-in according to the property's applicable schedule. Keep some time for rest and refreshments before beginning the first sightseeing programme. The arrival day focuses on Jaipur's historic centre, allowing important landmarks to be covered without unnecessary long-distance driving. The final order of sightseeing may change according to your arrival time, local traffic and monument operating hours.

Begin at City Palace Jaipur, where royal courtyards, gateways, museum sections and historic buildings introduce travellers to the architectural legacy of the Pink City. Continue to nearby Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory whose monumental instruments were designed for studying celestial movements and making calculations. Although both attractions occupy the same heritage district, their purposes and architectural forms are considerably different. Sufficient time is kept for walking through their principal accessible areas instead of reducing the visit to a few photographs.

Later, proceed towards Hawa Mahal and spend some time within Jaipur's old-city surroundings. The famous façade stands along streets lined with traditional businesses and market areas selling textiles, jewellery, handicrafts and locally produced goods. Guests can browse a market when interested, although shopping is optional and can be skipped entirely. Return to the hotel after completing the day's programme and keep the evening free. Spend your first overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day7

Amer Fort, Jal Mahal & Jaipur to Bikaner

Have breakfast, check out and leave for Amer Fort in the morning. Set among the hills north of Jaipur, the fort contains large courtyards, gateways, royal chambers and elevated sections overlooking the surrounding landscape. Spend adequate time walking through its principal areas and observing the contrast between defensive construction and ornate palace interiors. The complex involves considerable walking and steps, so comfortable footwear is recommended. Amer forms the final major heritage visit in Jaipur before the itinerary begins moving towards Rajasthan's desert region.

Descend towards the city and stop beside Jal Mahal at Man Sagar Lake. The palace is primarily viewed from the lakeside during regular Jaipur sightseeing and provides an attractive photography halt before departure. Continue by private car towards Bikaner, travelling northwest across Rajasthan. Lunch and refreshment breaks can be taken at suitable places along the highway at the travellers' own expense. As the drive progresses, the landscape gradually becomes drier and more open.

Reach Bikaner later in the day and proceed directly to your selected hotel. Complete check-in and use the evening to rest after the road journey rather than attempting to rush through the city's principal monuments before closing time. Guests may take a short independent walk near the hotel or enjoy dinner according to their selected meal arrangement. The main Bikaner sightseeing programme is reserved for the following morning. Spend the night in Bikaner.

Day8

Junagarh Fort, Bikaner Heritage & Drive to Jaisalmer

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Junagarh Fort, Bikaner's principal historical attraction. Unlike many of Rajasthan's famous forts positioned on hills, Junagarh rises from relatively level terrain and is protected by substantial fortified walls. Inside, travellers encounter a series of courtyards, palace rooms, balconies and decorative architectural details representing different periods of Bikaner's royal history. Sufficient time is provided for the fort because its interior deserves considerably more than a quick exterior photography stop.

After the fort visit, drive through selected sections of Bikaner to gain a broader impression of the desert city. Depending on the available schedule, travellers can see older neighbourhoods or make a brief stop for local products before leaving. Bikaner is widely associated with traditional snacks, sweets, handicrafts and regional food, although no compulsory shopping stop is included. Take lunch at a convenient restaurant and then meet your driver for the longer journey towards Jaisalmer.

The road towards Jaisalmer moves deeper into western Rajasthan, where settlements become more widely spaced and the desert environment increasingly shapes the scenery. Practical refreshment and comfort stops can be made during the journey without adding lengthy diversions. Reach Jaisalmer later in the day and proceed to your hotel for check-in. Keep the evening at leisure after the substantial drive and spend your first night in Jaisalmer.

Day9

Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon Ki Haveli & Gadisar Lake

Begin the morning with breakfast before heading towards Jaisalmer Fort, whose golden sandstone walls dominate the older part of the city. Unlike many historic forts that function primarily as monuments, Jaisalmer Fort retains active residential, commercial and religious areas within its walls. Walk through the accessible lanes and architectural sections while observing the characteristic yellow sandstone that has given Jaisalmer its Golden City identity. The fort's elevated position also provides broad views over the surrounding urban landscape.

Continue towards Patwon Ki Haveli, one of Jaisalmer's best-known examples of elaborate merchant architecture. The detailed stone façades, balconies and carved surfaces demonstrate a different form of craftsmanship from the military scale of the fort. Take sufficient time around the accessible sections before stopping for lunch independently. Depending on the day's pace, guests can also browse nearby market streets for textiles, handicrafts, leather goods and other local products. Shopping remains entirely optional.

Later, proceed towards Gadisar Lake, historically an important water source for Jaisalmer and today a popular part of the city sightseeing circuit. Spend time around the accessible lakeside areas and enjoy the quieter surroundings after the old-city programme. Boating, when operational, remains an optional activity payable separately. After completing the visit, return to the hotel and keep the evening free. Spend the second night in Jaisalmer.

Day10

Jaisalmer to Sam Sand Dunes, Camel Ride & Desert Camp

Have breakfast and keep the first part of the morning relatively relaxed before preparing for the desert section of the journey. Depending on the final schedule, travellers may have some additional time in Jaisalmer for personal shopping or leisure before leaving the city. Later, meet the driver and travel towards Sam Sand Dunes, situated outside Jaisalmer in the Thar Desert region. The changing surroundings gradually replace urban streets with open desert terrain as you approach the camp area.

On arrival near Sam, proceed to the selected desert camp and complete the applicable check-in procedure. Towards the later afternoon, head to the dune area for the camel activity when it is included in the confirmed package. A short camel ride provides a traditional way to spend time around the sandy terrain, while travellers may remain near the dunes as the daylight begins to change. Sunset visibility depends entirely on weather and atmospheric conditions and therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Return to the camp after the dune outing. Depending on the accommodation plan selected, the evening may include a Rajasthani folk music and dance programme followed by dinner at the camp. Exact entertainment, meal arrangements and activity inclusions vary between properties and should be confirmed when booking. Spend the evening in the desert surroundings before retiring to your allotted tent or room. Overnight stay will be at the Sam Sand Dunes camp.

Day11

Sam Sand Dunes to Jaisalmer & Departure

Wake up to the final morning in the desert and have breakfast at the camp according to its scheduled meal timings. Enjoy some free time around the property before completing check-out. The morning is intentionally kept simple after the previous evening's desert programme, allowing travellers to prepare comfortably for their onward journey. Meet your driver with the luggage and begin the return transfer from Sam towards Jaisalmer.

The road back provides a final view of the desert surroundings before returning to the Golden City. Depending on the departure timing, guests may proceed directly towards the railway station, airport or another confirmed local drop point. Those with a later departure may request a brief meal or shopping stop when sufficient time is available within the scheduled vehicle arrangement. Any optional purchases or additional activities remain payable directly.

At the agreed time, the driver will complete your transfer to the confirmed departure point in Jaisalmer. The Desert Triangle Tour 5 nights 6 days concludes after progressing from Jaipur's royal landmarks through Bikaner's fortified heritage to Jaisalmer's golden architecture and the open sands near Sam. The route provides a gradual introduction to western Rajasthan rather than treating the desert as an isolated one-night attraction.
